Illustrator Organizations
The Society of Illustrators
Their mission is to promote and stimulate interest in the art of illustration, past, present and future, and to give impetus generally toward high ideals in the art by means of exhibitions, lectures, educational programs, social intercourse, and in such other ways as may seem advisable.
Association of Illustrators
Established in 1973 to promote illustration, advance and protect illustrators rights and encourage professional standards. It has successfully increased the standing of illustration as a profession and improved commercial and ethical conditions of employment.
Illustrators' Partnership
Their purpose is to: Assert the value of an artist's portfolio as an asset of the creator, not a source of free inventory for others. Educate artists on how to protect and manage their intellectual property rights. Conduct research and prepare a comprehensive report on how illustrators can take advantage of the emerging opportunities in electronic licensing and publication of their works. Engage in research on the development of authentic, secondary markets for artists' work. Define and uphold professional standards among illustrators to protect them from unethical business practices. Raise the visibility of illustration through a public relations campaign. Link isolated members through a newsletter and web site.
