Our instructor is Malane Newman, a professional designer, illustrator, and cartoonist. For 20 years of her career, she has worked as a Lead Designer and Art Director for instructional firms developing print, computer and web-based training.

To ensure that those who educate the children of California are academically and professionally prepared.
Malane Newman is credentialed in the State of California to teach Computer Applications and Multimedia. She previously taught in the evenings at local High Schools in San Diego. |

Malane Newman taught How to Cartoon, Famous Character Cartooning, and Manga (Japanese Comic and Cartoon Art) for The Monart Art School, located in Solana Beach and in Scripps Ranch, San Diego for four years. Students ranged from 6 years of age to adult. |

Member of the National Cartoonists Society
Malane Newman has been a long-time member of The National Cartoonists Society which is the world's largest and most prestigious organization of professional cartoonists. As defined in the NCS by-laws, a professional is one who earns the majority of one's living by drawing cartoons. |

Member of the Southern California Cartoonists Society
The Southern California Cartoonists Society is the San Diego Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society and was started in 1986 as a social group and later developed into a support group that provides cartoonists with opportunities to interact for social, charitable and professional purposes. |

PS Magazine Lead Illustrator
Malane Newman worked as a Lead Illustrator on PS Magazine following other professional cartooning greats like Murphy Anderson, Chuck Kramer, and Joe Kubert. She was heralded as the "First (and Only) Female Lead Illustrator" for PS Magazine (The Preventive Maintenance Monthly). PS Magazine is a 68-page all-cartooned publication produced by the U.S. Army whose mission is to promote and enhance unit equipment readiness for military personnel who hold positions as operator, maintainers and supply support using Army equipment. The publication has been produced every month for over 57 years and Malane Newman is proud to have been part of its long-standing history. |
